Glenda G. Owen, DDS
Dr. Owen has been in practice since 1981, when she graduated from the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston. She also has a Bachelor of Journalism degree from UT Austin (1971) and a Master in Public Health from UT School of Public Health in Houston (1974). Prior to dental school she worked as the Public Information officer for the City of Houston Health Department. Dr. Owen, after working as an associate in two different practices, opened her own solo practice in 1995. She is a lifelong learner, often completing 100+ hours of continuing education each year. She is on the faculty and the boards of advisors and directors of the L.D. Pankey Institute for continuing dental education and has been on the faculty of Spear Education, dental continuing education institute. In addition she was part time faculty at UT School of Dentistry, Houston, 1982 -1990. She currently serves on the board of the Greater Houston Dental Society and chairs the scholarship committee. In addition to the local, state and national dental associations and the Academy of General Dentistry, she has been inducted into the American and the International Colleges of Dentistry. When she is not at the office, Dr. Owen enjoys reading, hiking, and travel. She and her husband, Kevin Dubose, an appellate attorney, have been married since 1981. They have two grown sons, Travis and Ryan, and have lived in a 1907 Victorian house in the Heights since 1982. Travis and his wife, Rachel, have a daughter and a son. Ryan is married to Carolyn and enjoy traveling.
DANIELLA SALDANA-FARIAS, DDS
Dr. Daniella Farias, is a native Houstonian and 2015 graduate of the University of Texas School of Dentistry, Houston. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in International Finance and Marketing from the University of Miami, where she was a 2009 cum laude graduate. Dr. Farias became interested in dentistry while undergoing orthodontic treatment as an undergraduate.
After graduation, she returned to Houston and, while working full time as an accounting analyst, completed a fast-track post-baccalaureate program at the University of Houston to finish the required courses to apply to dental school. Since graduating from dental school, Dr. Farias has worked in three different offices but was ready for a change—she was particularly drawn to our comprehensive, relationship-based style of practice.
Dr. Farias is committed to life-long learning and has gained accreditations in laser and digital dentistry. In 2019, she received her fellowship with the World Clinical Laser Institute. She brings to our practice additional knowledge in cutting edge innovations and technology. In September 2023, she will continue her dental education journey at the L.D. Pankey Institute, where Dr. Owen has taken courses since 1994 and is on the faculty and board of advisors.
Dr. Farias is involved in several community outreach programs, currently serving as the vice-president of the Houston Hispanic Dental Association and secretary of the Houston Equality Dental Network. Away from the practice, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf and exploring the city with Mila, her Labradoodle.
Hygienists
Leslie Ball has been in our practice since 2005. She attended Texas A&M and North Harris County Community College for her pre-requisites and then the two year dental hygiene program in Wharton, graduating in 1987. Leslie is particularly interested in preventive care and new strategies for maintaining periodontal health. She has been active in local, state and national hygiene associations, the handbell choir at her church. She has a son, Alex. They live in the Oak Forest area. Having grown up with a father in the oil business, Leslie has lived in four continents, four countries and four states in the U.S. She has been in Texas since 1977.
Michelle Weber joined our practice in 1997. She has been in dentistry since 1987, having been a dental assistant before attending the dental hygiene program in Wharton, Texas, where she graduated in 1992. She went on get her bachelor of science degree from UH Downtown in 2002. Michelle grew up in Pasadena and now commutes from Fulshear, Texas where she lives with her husband, Michael, an electric designer for the Wood Group and their two sons, Zachary and Taylor. She has a busy family life, juggling school activities along with her work and personal commitments. What Michelle enjoys about dentistry is building relationships with patients and helping them achieve their goals for being healthy.
Dental Assistants
Cheryl Wallace has been on our team since the fall of 1998. She is one of our dental assistants as well as our treatment coordinator. She has been in dentistry for 35 years. She has two daughters, Whitney and Lacee Hinson, both dental hygienists. Her daughters have inherited their mother’s passion for dentistry. She has three grandsons and one granddaughter. Cheryl says that she loves the “feels like home” atmosphere of our practice and she especially likes to create a positive experience for our patients. Cheryl and her husband, Zachary, live in Katy and love the outdoors, boating and primitive camping and just being with the family.
Sharn Tyler has been on our team since the winter of 2019. She is one of our dental assistants. She has 33 years of dental assisting experience and was an Insturctor of Dental Assisting at San Jacinto College for two years. She has two grown children. Colby lives and works in Houston. Lauren is pursuing a caareer in fashion in New York City. When Lauren moved, Sharn inherited her Yorkie mix, Bambi. Sharn is originally from Brooklyn, N.Y. although she moved to Texas at the age of 12 so she is practically a native. She goes back to visit family in New York City as often as possible. Travel, food and reading are her pleasures!
Administrative Team
Brenda Bernsteen first joined us in the summer of 1998. She has been in dentisty for 28 years. She has a love of computers and most things technical. She is our on-site IT person and the primary person responsible for reports as well as the doctor’s schedule. She can also work as a dental assistant in a pinch. She grew up in the Houston area. She and her husband, Dale, live in Katy and have a blended family of six children, four daughters and two sons, ranging in age from 11-30. Dale works in sales for Hattori Hanzo and is a “gym fanatic.” Brenda’s personal time is focused on her children and granddaughter. She is a coin collector, especially old coins and coins from other countries.
Lesa Curry has been our part-time contract bookkeeper since 2003. Before that she was, and still is, our patient. She does bookkeeping for a variety of businesses and is active in the choir and other aspects of St. Luke’s Methodist Church.
Cindy Jones is the newest team member, having joined us in May 2016. She has been working in healthcare since 1986 and specifically for dentists in an administrative capacity since 1994. She loves dentistry because it gives her more time than a medical practice to really get to know people who come in regularly. Cindy moved back to Houston in 2012 after living in Atlanta, Georgia for 20 years. She grew up in Dayton and graduated from Lee College. She enjoys her time with her daughter Hayley and her granddaughter Harper In her spare time, Cindy enjoys finding mid-century collectibles, eating BBQ or Mexican food and riding her bicycle to offset the love of those two foods.
