First Visit
Patients come in to our practice three different ways:
Emergencies are usually seen the same day if there is pain, swelling or bleeding or if there is an esthetic emergency (a front tooth broken or crown has come out)
Hygiene visits are frequently requested when patients feel the need to have their teeth cleaned on the first visit. This visit will include x-rays, periodontal evaluation (gum and bone health) oral cancer screening and an urgency exam by Dr. Owen.
Comprehensive exam is designed to evaluate the entire system and includes an examination of the teeth and gums (and bone support), oral cancer screening, bite relationship, muscles involved in chewing and clenching and the jaw joints. This exam can uncover very subtle signs that are indicators of chronic problems impacting longevity of the teeth and bone support. Most patients comment that they have never had such a thorough exam.
